It’s Spring Cleaning time – I’m working on some big shifts to make room for the incoming musician I’m becoming. I’ll be performing under the name Violet Letters and this Substack will pivot to feature my music more as well as juicy art, film, dance, etc that I love from others.
The album I had initially thought would be called Theta will be called Strange Karma, and I’m thrilled to be her mama.
You’ll notice I’m not writing the same long-form essays as I used to. My creative output is pouring into the music, and that’s gonna be the case for a good while. I hope you’ll stick around for the new flavor of magic and be patient while the bun is in the oven.
Tooooooo early, oopsies
The daily practice was punishingly early for me while I was on the West Coast, so I’m pushing it back by an hour to 8am Pacific/11am Eastern.
I will say I’m pleased to report that it’s like brushing your hair or teeth except it’s brushing the knots out of your consciousness. I have become much more courageous through this practice. It’s what slapped me on the butt so I could realize “holy shit, it’s time for me to make an album.” It’s what will keep me going ‘till it’s published and shared with the world.
Here’s the video to watch to get yourself all up to speed on what we do and how to prepare before you come to the live practice. I hope you’ll love the voice of my dear sister, Vedha, in the last 20 minutes as much as I do.
