Here’s the cost: That nasty headache that comes but never totally goes away. Or, the nausea you get Sunday night knowing Monday’s on its way. Or, the sleepless nights spent in desperation to shut off your brain from fast forwarding to some imagined future catastrophe you feel powerless to do anything about. Or, any of a thousand ways your body’s now breaking down in pain or numbness from 2.5 years of…
this.
I’ve spent the last three weeks deep in conversation with some of the most brilliant, well-resourced and gorgeous hearts you’ll ever meet. I’m gutted. When I get this group of men and non-binary humans to really dig down and tell me what’s up, they’re suffering much worse than I imagined. One dear friend has literally lost vision in one eye. I can’t believe how many of these humans and perhaps by extension, you, are so metaphorically and literally thirsty you can’t take a drink.
It isn’t going well in this moment where it seems it’s well past time to DO SOMETHING. But… how?
All of the people I talked to get how grave the situation on the planet is. They’re so exhausted, however, they can’t see how it’s possible to do anything more.
We’re not gonna be able do more, we’re gonna do different, and different begins with discovering the outrageous joy of saying no.
It seems we’ve all cut everything it seems we can cut. The metaphorical jar of peanut butter is at the very bottom, and we’re all getting very, very hungry. When we’re as empty as this, how can we cut more?
If saying no was simple, my brilliant friends would’ve figured it out a long time ago.
There’s good news though. I'm realizing that in this moment of collapse and change, we have been prepared for this moment by many of our classic movies based on archetypal tales.
I’m going to ask you a tough question. Yes, you.
Are you still in the black and white reality with the tornado or have you woken up in technicolor?
As a reminder, there are still flying monkeys and witches and all sort of wild stuff going on in technicolor, but it has a distinctly different quality.
If you’re still in the reality with the tornado, all there is to do right this minute is to notice that. Give a minute to soak in. It might be upsetting on a deep level. It has been to the men I’ve been speaking to.
Here’s what I know – there are things in your life that aren’t in alignment with your purpose and joy. These things are not what you’re on the planet to do. They are interfering with you completing the true requirements of what you’re asked to do. They are draining your life force.
You must say no.
If you don’t learn to say no, you’ll never get to say yes to what you’re really a yes to. When you start doing your true yesses (the true requirements of your life) the yellow brick road opens up under your feet. You find your companions. You go on the adventure of your life – the one you’ve been building up your whole life to go on.
More good-slash-bad news…
If you think this year was fast, wait till next year. If you’re in the reality with the tornado, it’s impossible to get excited about the winds picking up more. That means more destruction.
Life at full speed becomes fantastic once you’re in technicolor. (whee!)
Things must change fast to get us out of this mess the planet is in. It’s gonna speed up whether you’re aligned to the change or not. I wish I could tell you something easier to hear, but this is what I see.
I’m done bullshitting. We all know the score. It’s just that most people haven’t the first fucking clue how to deal. Well, let’s start by telling the truth.
Imagine tomorrow you woke up and everyone had decided to start telling the truth about what we say yes and no to. Imagine we have the communications skills, insight, and connection to do so with outrageous joy. Things will change faster than you can believe when we imagine this reality into existence together.
Soon we open up doors to apply for our new 100-day container for this profound transformation. Keep your eyes peeped! As a taster, we’re hosting an event this week.
Thursday: Finding Your Yellow Brick Road at 5:30pm PST / 8:30 EST on Zoom
Special guest Eric Brown, host of High Existence podcast, will join us this week! We will do an alignment and attunement to your personal technicolor adventure.
