Do you look forward to Mondays? I hope you do. Most Western people living in “modern” societies don’t.
I do love Mondays now, but I didn’t used to. I want you to know you’ve met at least one person who loves their job. The notion that you can get paid to do what you love is more than an illusion you’ll never get to live. I don’t tell you this to torture you but to remind you not to give up wanting something that’s absolutely natural to want and have.
This life isn’t a simulation.
You really exist.
You really are here.
You deserve unconditional love and kindness.
Do I still have hard days? Absolutely, I do. The last two weeks I was in SF and LA and they were nearly as much hell as heaven.
Hell is different when you’re there on sacred business.
I don’t fully know what that means yet, but this thought popped into my head last night as I was going to sleep and it somehow settled me back into myself. It brings tears of relief. Yes, we are still in hell, but the story is changing from linear to fractal, from slave to free, and from hard to hard-won sweetness that’s the realest kind of victory.
The last two weeks I was navigating the density and intensity of Los Angeles. Nearly everyone there feels the financial pinch of $60 Lyfts, the $20 lunches, and $12/hr parking. The Mexicana lady that cleans the rooms at the hostel in Venice I stayed at spends four hours a day on the bus to get there. I don’t even want to know how little she gets paid.
Things are hard right now.
Things are hard right now.
Things are hard right now.
If you feel like you’re losing it, hold on. You’re not alone. It’s hard everywhere.
We are doing this together.
You don’t have to save the whole world. You can’t. You only can do your piece, however small that seems.
Here’s my 12-minute playlist for when you need to stomp around and have a swamp to get through your hard day.
The last AI Art Salon is this Friday!
I’m about to take what we experienced together and go into a mini-hibernation. It’s been SO fun, butI have my first AI short film about Princess Diana in the works and need to get that out the door for its October 19th premiere.
Come this Friday and chill. I might even have some fizzy bev for a toast.
